Cohere's Command family is enterprise-focused: tuned specifically for retrieval-augmented generation and tool use, with native multilingual support across about 10 high-resource languages.
Command R (35B, March 2024) and Command R+ (104B, April 2024) released their open weights under a non-commercial Mistral-Research-style licence (CC-BY-NC). Production deployment requires Cohere's hosted API. The model architecture includes RAG-specific output formats that make downstream citation rendering easier than with general-purpose models.
